What Happened To This Blog?

Where've I been?  What have I been up to?  Well, I won't even get into all that here because this blog is all about the music.  So, now I'm back and will begin posting more stuff very soon, hopefully as soon as this weekend.  Stay tuned (get it, tuned?).  Ugh.

Links Repaired

It was brought to my attention that the files for Cha Cha in Ping Pong Percussion and Double Impact were corrupt. Well, I have no idea how that happened, but I believe I have fixed the problem. So, if you scroll down to those two posts, you can now download the new, repaired files. Enjoy!!

Who is Jose Gonzales?

Okay, here we have a record called Cha Cha Cha in Ping Pong Percussion...I think. It depends on how you interpret the cover. Of course, if you go by the record label itself, it's just called Cha Cha Cha. The LP is by one Jose Gonzalez and His Orchestra...I think. From what I can gather from the limited info I can find, it's actually performed by Francis Bay and His Orchestra. Hmmm. Very confusing indeed. Well, anyway, it's an album of so-so Latin instros which feature bongos and a guy who was apparently very heavy handed on the pan pot. You would think that an album which features percussion would actually have some great percussion playing in it. Not so. Nor is the orchestra very good weather it belongs to Francis Bay or Jose Gonzalez. My high school concert band was, no doubt, better than these guys...and we sucked pretty bad!

So, take it for what it is...just take it!

After the (Hula) Dance, or, Back to the Mainland

Okay, enough of the Hawaiian stuff for a little while (though I promise, I have not shared the last of it) and back to the mainland for another entry in the Music for Gracious Living catalog. This one is for all of you who can't get enough dancing at the dance and, um, well, decide to throw your own shindig at home afterward. As is usual with this series, Peter Barclay provides the swooning strings and the back cover of the LP provides the detailed instructions on how to throw the perfect party...complete with recipes for some totally disgusting sounding foods. Summer Ham and Egg Sandwich Loaf? Rye-Pie Sandwiches? Beanwiches? Date Squares?

And take a look at the cover...what do you suppose is behind that big gold curtain?

And not to mention the guy making the hamburgers wearing his wife's apron AT A PARTY!!! Now there's a fellow who's extremely secure in his manhood!
